This Sunday, the Trinity congregation is sharing in the worship service from Emmanuel United Church, Peterborough.
June 15, 2020
As many of you will have heard, the Provincial Government announced on June 8 that places of worship may begin to reopen. While that may seem like a straightforward mandate, guidelines from the United Church of Canada, ECORC and Peterborough Public Health reveal that there is more than meets the eye to reopening. While it is easy to close, it is difficult and a longer term prospect to reopen. The safety of our congregation and the prevention of an outbreak are first and foremost in our minds. Worship will not simply be reinstated in the format that we are used to.
In order to facilitate the in-depth measures that are required toward the church reopening, Trinity Council feels strongly that it is better to do this in a well-planned, gradual way. Therefore, a task force has been established to oversee the possible reopening of the building in September. As we have learned during this pandemic, change is a constant occurrence and we must adapt to any and all situations.
In the meantime, we will continue to offer our Sunday worship via YouTube. You will be kept advised of our plans through our services, emails, phone calls and letters. Please continue to email or call Joanna or the church office with any questions or concerns that we can help with. Joanna and Sherry will remain working from home. There are occasions when a person must enter the church. We ask that anyone entering the church building wear a face mask.
Continue to take good care of yourselves and each other in these unprecedented times.
If you require emergency pastoral care, please call the confidential

We are located at 360 Reid Street in Peterborough. There is ample parking in our church lot or in the adjacent municipal lot (with entry through our Simcoe Street door). Our elevator provides accessibility to all levels of the building. Many of our washrooms are also accessible.
Our worship service begins at 10 AM on Sunday mornings. During the hotter summer months worship takes place in Trinity Hall. The downtown United Churches in Peterborough hold combined services on each long weekend throughout the year.
Following the service everyone is invited to Trinity Hall for coffee, tea and perhaps a treat as well as conversation.
We have Sunday Funday School for children ages 5-12 and a Toddler Play Area for ages 1-4. Further details can be found under Get Involved.
Hello. My name's Joanna.
It's good to meet you over the website. Let me invite you to an in-person meeting at worship on Sunday morning or at any of the other Trinity events which you will read about on this website.
The people of Trinity express their faith and love for their community in a myriad of ways, from tending gardens to outreach efforts to worship and learning together. People new to us or new to church are always welcome to participate.
Musical opportunities abount, as people sing in choirs, ring bellas and play in an instrumental ensemble. Our Minister of Music, Robert Grandy, is a skilled and versatile musician and director.
Weekly worship focuses on feeding our minds and spirits and inspiring our compassion and service in the world. Using a variety of styles and formats, we seek to help the timeless messages about divine love, shared by Jesus, to speak in relevant ways to the world in which we live today.
People of all ages and backgrounds gather on Sunday morning at 10 am. Following a 'Young at Heart' portion of the service, our younger members head off to 'Sunday Funday School' for appropriate age lessons.
I lead a monthly Spirituality Group called Soul Play, which offers an informal opportunity to get to know one another by sharing thoughts and feelings through a variety of exercises and spiritual lessons. These gatherings are open to all.
